Nothing will brighten up your Oregon landscape like fresh mulch!
While new mulch looks great, it is also important to have the right amount (3-4” is generally desirable). Beds should be topped off each year with a thin layer rather than mounding it up every couple years. This keeps pesky weeds from germinating while also strengthening your plants’ root systems by keeping moisture in the ground.
Rock installation is a great alternative to mulch. Not only can rock freshen up the look of your landscape beds, but, like mulch, it can prevent pesky weeds from taking over your bed. If you want a lower maintenance landscape bed and do not want to replace mulch each season, rock is a great option for you.
